I asked my readers if they could guess the movie I will feature today. Few tried, but none could even get close to this album.

This is an amazing Carnatic music based album lost in the mirage of other movies. Although Ilaiyaraaja couldn’t learn music during his formative years, he made it a point to learn Western and Carnatic music from the stalwarts.

One of his gurus was the legendary V.Dakshinamoorthy (Raaja calls him Dakshinamoorthy Swamigal). Projekt Ilaiyaraaja is a learning process for me too and when I was researching for Malayalam movies, I found this movie titled “Kaaveri” with Nedumudi Venu and Sithara in the lead roles. And the biggest surprise was, the music was composed by V.Dakshinamoorthy and Ilaiyaraaja. The icing on the cake was that all the songs (except for one) were rendered by Balamuralikrishna. The female lead singer was Easwari Panicker and the songs were written by Kavalam Narayana Panicker. The director who had the vision of bringing all these stalwarts together was Rajeevnath.

Listen to the songs and enjoy the bliss

Kaaveri is a special album that had the collaboration of V Dakshinamoorthy, Balamuralikrishna and Ilaiyaraaja. Enjoy the bliss in Projekt Ilaiyaraaja
