Let me end the non-film albums special on a high note. I am going to feature an album that has been lost in the mirage of many other albums. Mandolin Srinivas was a child prodigy and later collaborated with international musicians to spread Carnatic music to the world. He collaborated with Ilaiyaraaja in 1994 to bring an amazing album that consists of 5 original Carnatic compositions of Ilaiyaraaja.

Mandolin Srinivas was accompanied by S.D. Sridar on violin; Guruvayur Durai on miruthangam; Madurai Srinivasan on ganjira; E.M. Subramaniam on ghatam and Sathyaveni Varalakshmi on Thambura. The album is available on iTunes – if you want to own it 🙂

I am going to point to out the title piece, Eka Dhantham. I am not going to talk about the Raaga – let me allow you to soak in this musical piece.
